HuntingMore than 60 private enterprises offer hunting expeditions, ranch vacations and eco-tourism adventures. Horseback riding, mountain biking and water sports abound.

In the spring and summer, canoe the Little Missouri River; sail Lake Sakakawea; and swim, jet ski and boat on rivers and dams throughout the region. Spring finds new life everywhere from crocuses and lilies popping out to fawns, calves and nests full of robins. North Dakota's warm days and cool nights always provide good sleeping weather. Rodeos, powwows, paleontology digs, parades and county fairs provide a bounty of entertainment.

PaleontologyOur falls are filled with roundups, threshing bees and hunting opportunities. Buffalo berries turn the blue-gray shrubs red, and waterfowl and songbirds migrate through the region. With daytime temperatures warming into the mid-60s, it is perfect weather for horseback riding, hiking or biking.

BikingOne of the wonders of the region is winter. It is the perfect time to ice fish, cross-country ski, snowmobile, ice skate, sled and sleigh ride.
