The Enchanted Highway, the highway that features the World’s Largest Metal Sculptures, begins at Interstate 94 Exit 72, the exit to Gladstone, N.D.

Starting at “The Geese in Flight” sculpture, the paved road winds south through 32 miles of scenic prairie into the town of Regent, N.D.

On the highway you will see five metal sculptures ranging from 40 to 50 feet high. Ten sculptures are planned for the Enchanted Highway.

To date six have been erected:

– The Tin Family

The Family includes a 45-foot tall Tin Man, 44-foot tall Tin Lady and a 23-foot tall Tin Boy.

– Grasshoppers in the Field

The 40-foot tall and 50-foot long main grasshopper is flanked by a number of smaller grasshoppers in the 12-foot tall to 24-foot long range.

– Pheasants on the Prairie

The colorful rooster stands 40-feet tall and 70-feet long. To the east stand a 35-by-60-foot hen and three smaller chicks.

– Teddy Roosevelt Rides Again

The silhouette of President Theodore Roosevelt on horseback rises to 51 feet above the prairie bluff where it stands. The site also has a stagecoach with wooden horses for children to play.

– Geese in Flight

Features a flock of geese flying across the golden setting sun above the buttes.

- The Deer Family

The most recent sculpture was formed using a shadow technique and erected in 2002. A giant buck, 75-feet tall and 60-feet long, jumps the fence on the Enchanted Highway. A doe, standing 50-feet tall and 50-feet long, stands alongside.

One metal sculpture is constructed and erected each year. The next sculpture that will be erected soon is Fisherman's Dream.

Future sculptures may include an eagle, coyote, and spider web.

Once your reach Regent, you have the opportunity to relax and enjoy the Enchanted Highway Gift Shop, the Hettinger County Historical Museum, local craft shops, and the many other attractions in the community.
